ICAST 2011 | Duckett White Ice Improves on Solid Design

DuckettWhiteIceRods

The Duckett White Ice rods had some buzz at the ICAST fishing tackle show. The new blueish-crystal colored rods were easy to spot not just because of color but because of open smooth handles, custom reel seats and the number of them. The new rods were all designed by top pros. Every one of the 17 rods in the line was designed specifically by that pro. They didn't make a medium-heavy 7 footer and then ask a pro to pick what technique to make it. Each pro scripted the power, tip action, length, number of guides and more.

They are using a higher quality graphite, a higher quality micro guide system. Their previous rods were around a 5.3 on the power scale and these rods will be a full 6 on the power scale. Because of the properties of the new material, they could add a lot of power and durability without adding any weight. But that will also price the rods from $229 to $249 depending on the length. The rods should be available late fall just before the true buying season in 2012.

Well Im impressed with them but not the price point. Hopefully the new improvements will be worth the price hike. Cant wait to see the entire line an maybe fish with one to see what they have to offer over the original series.

Those look pretty slick. I just don't like the name. It sounds like chewing gum. I don't buy stuff for the name, though.

Have too see what Tackle Tour says about most of the new stuff. It seems like they're not thinking about the economy with 369.00 reels 269.00 rods. Man they must think we all have Terry Brown Money!!

Saw these rods at icast...I must say the price tag is a little spendy for a rod made in china....

I am with a majority, do these people remember what it was like to try and fish or hell just fish local tournaments are expensive enough. i hate when people have a good product for the price and tries to up it. I love when pros say our fans support us! (you must mean the ones with $ cause I cant support you) LISTEN up pros help everyone just the sponsor, remember consumers buy the products!

i would love to try one out but everything about the micro magic rods was on point, with the new rods costing that much i will not buy any and hopefully they will continue to sell the originals.

The back end looks like the end of a club or baseball bat. Whats up with that? It appears it may make it uncomfortable for holding when making a cast.

I will probably buy one of them but if they were fifty dollars cheaper I would buy two or three. Why wouldn't they try to make there money off selling in volume? The rods can't cost that much to build. There are a lot of good rods to choose from these days.

Wow...we are now in 2012 and still no release since intro at iclass back in summer of 2011. Does Duckett plan to display these same rods again at iclass with a sign that says coming soon? What are the results of field tests saying? What all rods are gonna be available ?

I love the rods, but I can't really afford a rod above the $150 range, and I don't like that it is made in China though, I always feel my product is worth more coming from the USA, but I love the design
