The ASA hosted its Chairman Awards Ceremony Wednesday evening and annouced the Best of Show awards for the 2011 ICAST show. The overall winner wasn't a suprise to us. And several of the categories winners were ones for which we voted. It's always interesting to talk with folks after the win to get their take so we'll try to do some more of that on thursday. Best of show? Try tying an overhand know in it and see how easy you can break 12 lb nanofil with your bare hands and no effort. Ever get a wind knot while fishing? If so, even a gentle hookset will cost you your lure!

I'm a little suspicious of the Nanofil too. I haven't read much about it online but what I have seen is mostly negative. I'm not sure how the voting process works at ICAST but someone could be getting some incentives to say good things about it. Or maybe they vote just based on the idea behind it regardless of actual performance. Either way, actual users will voice their opinions soon enough.
