Due to severe weather conditions that brought high winds and 8 foot seas, tournament director Ron Lappin made the decision to restrict the field to Presque Isle Bay for the FLW Outdoors American Fishing Series bass tournament on Lake Erie. The field launched out of Erie, Pa. this morning but didn't have to run far to start fishing.

Anglers will be packed into the Bay, but several tournaments having more than 100 boats fish in the bay each year, so it can support the field of 73 boats in this event. Anglers are only allowed to keep four bass, but it should be interesting to see what weights are today as they will be a far cry from the potential on the main lake.

But it should offer anglers an interesting change of pace. Where drop shots and tubes in 40 feet of water dominate in the big lake, punching mats and fishing weed edges will dominate in the Bay.

One thing is for sure, a tournament angler has to be prepared for curve balls, and the ones that take those curves in stride will come out on top.
