Set Your Snagged Lures Free

Set Me Free Lure Retriever

We ran across a pretty neat little product at the Forrest Wood Cup outdoor expo yesterday. This product is billed as a better lure retriever. We thought it was worth a try and bought a couple to test.

The product is called the Freddies Set-Me-Free Lure Retriever. We talked with Freddie Meredith of Hot Springs, Ark., the lure retriever's creator. Basically it's a 2-ounce weight with a special sliding harness that you can keep in your pocket. Then when your crankbait gets hung on a piece of brush, you pass the line under the harness and around the weight. Then you put your rod high to build up speed and the weight shoots down the line to knock the bait free.

If that doesn't work you can pop your rod tip and it will jump and knock against the bait. Obviously it won't free it from everything like the dreaded fishing line, but I recently lost a custom painted Lucky Craft crankbait on a shallow flat. I would have liked to have a chance to get the bait back.

Check out their video and see for yourself. All we have for purchase information is an email: fandimeredith@cablelynx.com.

Yeah those make zero sense....IF you cant get the lure off the structure, then how do you get the "set me free" up? you can't. You have to cut the line and then there is 2oz of lead in the lake. regular plug knocker for me...

I have a couple of these a buddy gave me and bottom line they work. I have used the knockers with the attached line that you drop down and these work much better, faster and you don't have that line tangled in everything when your done. Keep one in your pocket while fishing and never have to worry about those other knockers again. Doug

I use something similar to this as well with great results. And like Doug said, it's nice not having to mess with the hassle that comes with some of the other lure knockers.

We've dropped 2 ounce bell sinkers on a big clasp down our lines for years to free jigs off stumps on Ky Lake. But this is a much more streamlined deal that I think will work even better.

Thanks everyone for your support of my "Set Me Free"Lure Retriever! When l started working on designing a better lure retrieval system my goal was to create the best tool on the market, for recoverying my snagged lures. I spent months bending different wire forms, but never was pleased with any of them, until this one.l gave hundreds away to my friends, including all the touring Pro's in the Hot Springs.Ar. area.My son gave them away in Springdale Ar. This has been tested for about 2 years.l have been getting positive feedback everywhere. I have them in as many of the FLW. And BASS. Pros hands that I could contact by being a vender with FLW.with wonderful help from staff and management of FLW. I feel very blessed by my LORD and SAVIOUR! !! This is a real tool for the fishermen. All feedback is welcomed GOOD or BAD.THANKS. FREDDIE
