We've made it to our hotel in Duluth, Ga and we've already ran into Trisha Blake, VP of Marketting for FLW Outdoors. She said there is some big new announcements coming this week during the event. She felt like things had turned the corner and there would be some new announcements that will be good for everyone.

The anglers seem to be ready for the event and are probably just sitting down to the pre-tournament dinner. The weather this week is going to be brutally hot with lots of sun and lots of high temperatures. But the fish are biting deep.

Some speculated that the low water last year and subsequent high water this year would put a lot of bass in between their normal deep haunts and the bank in the new cover that got established during the low water periods.

But we talked to several locals, and they said the fish are well established in their deep haunts. And we even heard that there are some nice largemouth deep that could be a wild card in the predominantly spotted bass lake.

The bluebacks are in the lake and that always seems to throw anglers a huge curveball. But it sounds like they've gone real deep and may not be as big a factor as many predicted they would be going into the event.

Whatever the case is with the fish, some anglers will catch them better than they thought they could, and some won't catch them like they thought they could. Eventually someone will win and there will be some drama sandwiched in the middle as to who is going to walk away $500,000 or $600,000 richer.

We're ready to get this thing on, and so are the pros.

This time of year many fear the weed and algae mats as the grass seems to stretch for miles. The tactic here is to retrieve the worms in slowly and as the algae begins to build up on the front of the off-set worm shanked gapped hook...allow for a bit of tadpole swimming. What I am saying is,:Make the worm begin to emulate a goby or mudpuppy and as the clumps form into larger balls of vegitation and algae,do not rush in the worm. The fast retrieves only spook those Bigg-ins beneath the canopy...on the other hand just allow for the algae and weed scum to clump up and gradualy create a Goby or tadpole presentation and follow the worm back to the boats, banks or docks as if it begins to take the shape of a Frog...hop and skip the newly coated plastics and create your own natural combination eco-friendly lure as Bass and other species will HIT the lure even when coated with clumps of scum and veggy film and weed...

The "Biggest Trick and Technique" I like to use in deep weeded mat canopy fishing is to invert a gigantic 1/2 ounce or larger bullet weight and carolina rig it to a stong swivel with a foot and a half of Flouro leader. When rigging the Biggest and Nastiest Plastic Ribbon Tailed worm always cast upwards as if to be casting towards the moon and as the inertia of the weight and lure fall freely to the mats and thick canopys you are guranteed to penetrate the thickest of Big Bass Foofing any lake or Fisherie can face you with. The next thing is to Power-Finnesse these Big and Bad Nasty Ribbon-Tailed 10 to 12'' worms and snake them through the rough and toughest of cover and canopy as the BIG BASS cannot resist to hit them!

Invert Bullet weights and use extra beads for knot protection and "clack a rapin," noise makin "Big Wormin and Bass Catching Machines!"
