It's a Beast of a Fishing Lure!

Curt Johston, owner of Zipper Worm Company, sent us a pack of his latest "monster" creation called The Goliath. It's an overwhelming large piece of plastic. We saw some jokes about new swimbaits that mimic baby seals after Shark Week started airing this week. Well this would probably fool a Great White with its size.

They make a unique profile of plastics with small appendages down the sides of the baits that make them appear somewhat like a zipper. If you're not familiar with them, Zipper Worms have sort of a cult following out west and scattered followers throughout the Southeast and Midwest.

The latest creation though is a hoss. We just had to share it with you guys and gals. The bait is a whopping 13 1/2 inches long and more than an inch wide in places. It's got a ton of appendages on it that wiggle and gyrate as you move it in the water. It's a beast to cast and must have a huge profile in the water. Probably a killer night-fishing bait.

Rest assured if a bass bites this bait, he either thinks he's the meanest bass in the pond or the biggest.

Legitimately... Does anyone make a hook for this? I mean are we talking like 15/O is probably not even big enough?

I think Curt said he was catching fish on a 10/0 hook. Owner makes a hook called the Beast that goes up to 10/0 that would probably be good for this.

I found an 11/0 that works great for these type of lures at BPS in Texas.

I know they make bigger hooks than 11/0 I have 12/0 swimbait hooks for musky and pike... But Im thinking if the picture above is legit and that is as it looks to be a 5/0 flippin hook then you'd need atleast a 13/0 to get near halfway down the body....

I'd hit that.

owner does indeed make a great hook called the beast. a big swimbait hook will work as well. Curt Johnson is a genuis with that big worm. I like it and so do the bass. Zipper Worm Company also makes several other fantastic products which have helped me win a tournament recently. they are definately a note worthy company you need to check out.

Honestly, all you really need is a 7/0 trokar swimbait hook, the fish is probable going to hit it head 1st so you will hook him anyway.
