Lindners Sign with Quantum for Rods and Reels of Choice

Al Lindner and the Angling Edge team will be filming for their 41st year of television fishing instruction in 2011. And they’ve partnered with Quantum for their rods and reels of choice.

The Lindners produced their first show in 1970, and currently air on Versus World Fishing Network, Fox Sports Net, and local broadcast stations across the country.

“Rods and reels are very personal items to anglers,” said Al Lindner, who spends roughly 150 days a year on the water fishing and filming. “What impresses me is the extensive Quantum line of baitcasting and spinning rods and reels. They cover the broad spectrum of multispecies freshwater fishing from bluegills to muskies. Quantum’s baitcasting and spinning reels are made to exacting specifications, and have the features that are important to me, such as: proper size and weight, line capacity, smooth drag system, retrieve ratio and overall appearance.”

“There are few if any anglers in the history of fishing that garner more respect than The Lindners,” said Bob Bagby, Vice President of Marketing for Quantum. “We’re proud, honored and excited that Al, Jimmy and the entire Angling Edge team will be chasing everything from Crappie to Muskies with our products. Seeing Al or Jimmy catch a monster Smallie while battling 4-foot waves with one of our Performance Tuned spinning reels brings instant real world credibility to Quantum for all who are watching.”

“Although it’s a large corporation, Quantum operates like a family owned business,” Lindner said. “They care about their anglers and value their input on how to make products the very best they can be. The result is high-quality rods and reels that appeal to anglers from novice to expert.”

Really seems like Shimano is pulling out of just about everything they sponsor

the lindner's are very talented and I don't know why shimano is not going with them anymore. I know shimano builds high quality tackle but Al Lindner and his brothers are to me the biggest voice in the fishing tackle industry.

Wow - this announcement is kind of a game changer, isn't it? For so long the Shimano-ites have spoken of Quantum reels as 2nd class citizens. Having Al, Jim and the rest of the Angling Edge team using Quantum tackle knocks Shimano off their perch. I've admired and trusted Al, Ron and Jim's approach to the outdoors and perceive them to be of high character and integrity. Good for Quantum to have them on the Team!

I VALUE THE LINDNER'S OPINION, BUT I'VE FISH MOST EVERY BRAND OF REEL, NONE COMPARE TO SHIMANO. SORRY!

It's a MONEY thing!!!

I purchased a Quentum Energy PTI-20 in May 2009.

I brought my Energy PTI-20 reel for repair in July 2009 to have the anti-reverse bearing changed.

Then I had the same problem occur 2 weeks after the bearing was changed,I brought it back in November 2009,now it's August 2010 and the reel is still not repaired because the owner of the store Shiman-au-Peche (Montreal) tells me the bearing is backorder.

It's been 9 months I have been WAITING for the a/r bearing....and you say I still have to wait.

I think this is an unreasonable time to wait to have my reel fixed that is not even a year old.

I am not satisfied with the warranty service, especially from a company as big as Quantum/Zebco.

Be asured this WILL be the LAST product i will ever own or purchase from Quantum.

I used to be a Shimano fan, not anymore, it's Daiwa for me. I do have a few Quantum products, havn't had much good luck with them except the older models like the QSS series.

The big 4 reel maufactures all have good products and bad. I prefer Daiwa and have for many years. I think Quantum has made a large comitment to the sport bringing on Angling Edge. I am sure it will pay off for them as people trust AL and the team for an honest opinion. However you can't just put a fancy handle and knobs along with a fancy paint job and say your a great reel. They will have to improve their durability and customer service.

This is big news for the fishing industry. I'd really like to know if the Linders left or was it Shimano that decided to pull out. Either way, I hope that the Linders will help bring stronger, lighter, and overall better Quantum products to market. I haven't been to thrilled with Quantums customer service in the past and their spinning reels still weigh a ton.

Shimano decided to go another direction. The Lindners are pretty picky about the companies they deal with so I doubt this was a snap judgement lured by money. They probably had several companies wanting to work with them and chose Quantum. We're hoping the Smoke reels are better products. We were certainly impressed with them at ICAST.
