The Talon will Get Ya - New Minn Kota Anchoring system

Minn Kota Talon

We've known about the Talon for several months and even had the engineers up at Wired2Fish offices going through the product several months ago. So we've anxiously been waiting for the product to come to market.

So the Minn Kota Talon is finally here. It's an achoring system that will quickly, quietly and firmly anchor your boat with an electronic controlled mechanical fiberglass spike. It deploys quickly and features an automatic 3-pronged stake process. You double click your remote (that's included with the unit) and the Talon deploys  up to 6 feet, 4 inches of water or 8 feet, 4 inches of water depending on the model. Then it waits three seconds and spikes a little harder and deeper. Then waits three seconds and does it again.

Then if you're in rough water you can set it to spike every 10 seconds until it gets a firm hold to compensate for the eb and flow.

The unit has an adjustable bracke that makes it easy to raise and lower the mounting of the unit and angle it appropriately to meet the demands of your boat. And the best part is you can mount the unit yourself easily.

The units weigh between 20-35 pounds depending on the model.

They are all electronic and the spike is warrantied for life.

We're pretty excited about this system. They should start shipping their first orders in November.

The website says they are gonna be about 1500 bucks for the 8ft. Imagine that. I wonder where they got that price point from!! I still think its gonna be nice, and it will hopefully bring the price down on the competitors. They are both over priced but welcome to Free Enterprise!!!

Hooks set are always free!!!!

Nice, sounds like the 3 prong will eliminate need for 2 units, plus I am guessing since its all electric, you don't have to sacrifice a storage compartment for a hydraulic pump.

It's a single prong but the unit drives the single prong in a 3 Step process to assure it is set firmly into the bottom.

Cool part is's very easy to remove - by two simple bolts and unplug the electrical connection. and it's off the boat!

Does anyone know when it will be available?

what about noise?? this thing has got to resonate down into the water when the motor is activating unlike hydraulics. Don't want to spook the snook and redfish.

i agree these things from both outfits are way over priced...i could see $500 but $1500 i think both companies are stealing from the guys who been supporting them for years and years....having been a minn kota guy since i was 10 years old now 36, its a shame

have the eight ft model works really great, will hold you tight, but i have one problem,8ft model on the back of stratos 201 model 4" above the bottom of boat and it sets 12" above the motor and cannot get under some bridges to get to the shallow water.need to be a bracket to pin the unit to lay back so you can get under the bridge to get to the shallow water

I have a stratos 195 pro xl. I just ordered a minnkota talon. I see waynes post and I am wondering which bracket he has on his stratos. I have a jackplate and was going to get the mount that bolts on the side of that. But not sure of the bracket I need.

Jason the plate that goes to the jack plate is very weak. The bracket I have is the one that comes with the talon which bolts right to the tramson.I wish that I had got the 6ft,maybe it would have been as low as the motor.hope this helps
